EdisonLearning, Inc., its brands, affiliates, and subsidiaries (“EdisonLearning,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides digital learning solutions for Students (each a “Student”) in grades K-20. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how EdisonLearning collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information through these digital learning solutions, as well as the rights and choices individuals have regarding such personal information. In addition, our collection, use and disclosure of personal information collected from Students under 13 years old is subject to our Children’s Privacy Policy, set forth below.
The EdisonLearning digital learning solutions, for Students in grades 6-12 (collectively, the “Services”), include the:
- EdisonLearning eCourses,
- EdisonLearning eSchoolware platform,
- EdisonLearnNow services, and
- Other EdisonLearning online and digital learning services or features that we make available on or through the above.
Students and their Parents may sign up for our Services directly (i.e., the EdisonLearnNow services), where available. We also provide our Services on behalf of our clients, who are schools, school boards and other educational institutions) that have engaged us to provide the Services to their respective Students (each a “School”). When we are acting on behalf a School, our collection, use, retention and disclosure of Student records and personal information is subject to our contract with that School, as well as state and federal laws and regulations applicable educational records and Student personal information.
Your use of our Services and any dispute over privacy, is subject to this Policy and our Terms of Use, available at https://www.edisonlearning.com/legal, including their applicable terms governing limitations on damages and the resolution of disputes.

This Policy applies to the EdisonLearning Services, which include digital learning solutions for grades K-20 (as described above), and sets forth how we collect, use, retain and otherwise process personal information about Students who access and use the Services, as well as their respective parents or legal guardians (each a “Parent”)
This policy applies solely to the information EdisonLearning collects through providing our Services. It does not apply to the personal information we collect and process outside of the Services, such as personal information about users of our corporate website (https://www.edisonlearning.com/), vendors and business contacts, participants in events, contests and promotions we sponsor, and individuals subscribed to our newsletter and marketing communications, as well as past, current and prospective clients, employees and job applicants. 2. Personal Information We Collect
As further described below, we collect personal information directly (e.g., from Students, Parents and Schools) and we also collect and track information about your use of the Services (e.g., course participation, progress and completion, assignments, performance and grades). To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may combine the information we collect from any sources.
Personal Information Provided By Students, Parents and Schools. The personal information we collect varies depending upon your relationship with EdisonLearning, the Services you use, and our interactions with you. In general, we may collect the following personal information about Students and in some cases their respective Parents, from Students, Parents and Schools:
- Registration and Account Information. When an account is created with us to set up a Student’s eCourse in eSchoolware, whether set up by a Student, Parent or a School, we collect Student name, email address, and whether the Student requires special services such as IEP, 504, ELL, etc.as well as, date of birth, grade level, username/ID, and course enrollment.. We may also collect name and contact information for a Student’s Parent(s). Where a School has engaged us to provide the Services on their behalf, the account will be provisioned with the appropriate School, and we may also collect additional information from Students at the direction of the School.
- School Provided Information. Where a School has engaged us to provide the Services on their behalf, the School may provide us additional Student personal information (e.g., from a school application). This data may include information such as standardized test scores, observation data, assessment data, daily school attendance, behavioral data, demographic data (such as place of birth, gender, race, ethnicity, and primary and secondary language(s) spoken and read), homeroom; specific curriculums and programs, anticipated year of graduation, diagnostic testing data and results, adaptation questions and answers, start and end dates, low income status, special ed services, living situations, school district ID, ,bus assignment and pick-up/drop off locations, extracurricular activities, and other information deemed relevant to the Student’s education.
- Payments and Billing. When Students and Parents sign up directly for EdisonLearnNow, payments are generally submitted through our corporate website (and subject to the EdisonLearing Corporate Privacy Policy. However, we may collect and retain payment and billing information when you register for the Services (e.g., for purposes of recurring payments).
- Communications and Interactions. We collect and retain records (including name, contact details, communications, and our responses) about emails, phone calls, chats and other communications from and interactions with you related to your EdisonLearning account or your access to or use of the Services, including communications with technical support; EdisonLearning Instructional Support Services, which includes learning coaches, teachers, and advisors; other members of our team; eCourse participants; and others through our eLearning platform messaging system.
Course Information and Participation. While participating in an eCourse, we may collect additional educational information provided by the Student through the Services, including school enrollment, assignments submitted, and communications and participation in eCourse activities, as well as additional information provided or submitted in the course of working with an EdisonLearning learning coach or a teacher. We may also track, log and maintain records about your participation and progress, including time in system, attendance, course usage information, points earned, course progress, assessment scores and grades, assessment items submitted, and number of attempts per assessment.
Other Usage Data and Information Collected Automatically. We and our providers automatically collect usage and activity data, including personal information, related to your access to and use of our Services, including through the use of cookies, pixel tags, and other similar technologies. The information may include:
- Device and Browsing Information. When you use our Services, we may collect IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, date/time stamps, operating system, language, device type, unique ID, Internet service provider, referring and exiting URLs, clickstream data, and similar device and browsing information.
- Activities and Usage. We also collect activity information related to your access to use of the Services, such as information about the buttons clicked, searches, features used, items viewed, time spent within the Services, your interactions with us within the Services, and other activity and usage information.
- Location Information. We may also collect or derive general location information about you, such as through your IP address.

3. How We May Use Personal Information
We collect, use, disclose and otherwise process the personal information we collect about you to respond to your requests and where otherwise directed or authorized by you, as well as for the following purposes:
- Services and Support. To allow you to maintain your account with us, provide and operate our Services, communicate with you about your use of the Services, provide troubleshooting and technical support, respond to your inquiries, communicate with you about the Services, and to otherwise run our day-to-day operations.
- Analytics and Improvement. To better understand how users access and use the Services, and for other internal research and analytical purposes (where permitted by applicable law), such as to evaluate and improve our Services and business operations, to develop our Services and its features, and for internal quality control and training purposes.
- Security and Protection of Rights. To protect the Services and our business operations, and to protect our rights or those of our stakeholders; to prevent and detect fraud, unauthorized activities and access, and other misuse; where we believe necessary to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety or legal rights of any person or third party, or violations of our Terms of Use.
- Compliance and Legal Process. To comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations, including as part of a judicial proceeding; to respond to a subpoena, warrant, court order, or other legal process; or as part of an investigation or request, whether formal or informal, from law enforcement or a governmental authority.
- Auditing, Reporting, and Other Internal Operations. To conduct financial, tax and accounting audits; audits and assessments of our operations, privacy, security and financial controls, risk, and compliance with legal obligations; our general business, accounting, record keeping and legal functions, and to maintain appropriate business records and enforce company policies and procedures.
- General Business and Operational Support. To assess and implement mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, bankruptcies, and other business transactions such as financings, and to administer our business, accounting, auditing, compliance, recordkeeping, and legal functions.
4. How We May Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose the personal information we collect as authorized or directed by you and for the purposes described above, which includes the following types of disclosures:
- To Vendors and Services Providers. We may disclose the personal information we collect to vendors and service providers who perform functions on our behalf, such as IT and website hosting, customer support, data storage, analysis and processing providers, auditors, consultants and legal counsel. We hold our vendors and service providers to the same level of protection required of us by our customers as set out in our agreements.
- To Schools and Other Educational Institutions. Where we provide the Services to Students on behalf of a School, Student personal information and other course records may be disclosed to our shared with the Students’ School. In addition, we may disclose transcript data to the third-party educational institutions and verification bodies that you have requested or authorized to receive this data. For example, at your request, we will share your EdisonLearning transcript with the educational institution of your choice. The transcript will include Student name, Student’s home institution and address, associated teacher of record, courses taken, time in system per course, overall GPA, GPA by year, and grades.
- To Parents. Parents have the right to request and review educational records and certain other personal information that we maintain about their respective Students who are under 18 years old.
- To Others At Your Request or Direction. We may also disclose Student personal information and course records to others where you have specifically directed or authorized us to do so.
- In Support of Business Transfers. If we or our affiliates are or may be acquired by, merged with, or invested in by another company, or if any of our assets are or may be transferred to another company, whether as part of a bankruptcy or insolvency proceeding or otherwise, we may disclose or transfer the personal information we have collected from you with or to the other company. We may also disclose certain personal information as necessary prior to the completion of such a transaction or other corporate transaction such as a financing or restructuring, to lenders, auditors, and third-party advisors, including attorneys and consultants.
- Our Compliance and Legal Obligations. To comply with our legal and compliance obligations and to respond to the legal process. For example, we may disclose information in response to subpoenas, court orders, and other lawful requests by regulators and law enforcement, including responding to national security or law enforcement disclosure requirements.
- For Security and Protection of Rights. Where we believe doing so is necessary to protect the Services, our rights and property, or the rights, property, and safety of others. For example, we may disclose personal information to (i) prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to fraud, unauthorized activities and access, illegal activities, and misuse of the Services, (ii) situations involving potential threats to the health, safety, or legal rights of any person or third party, or (iii) enforce, detect, investigate, and take action in response to violations of our Terms of Use. We may also disclose personal information related to litigation and other legal claims or proceedings in which we are involved, as well as for our internal accounting, auditing, compliance, recordkeeping, and legal functions.
Aggregate and Deidentified Information. We may also use, disclose, and otherwise process aggregate and deidentified information related to our business and the Services with third parties for quality control, analytics, research, development, and other purposes. Where we de-identify data, we will take reasonable steps to prevent such data from being re-identified.
We do not share personal information collected through the Services with third parties for marketing and advertising purposes. Please review the EdisonLearning Corporate Privacy Policy for information about our marketing and advertising practices related to our corporate website and the personal information that we collect outside of the Services.
5. Cookies and Other Tracking Mechanisms
We and our providers use cookies, pixel tags, and other similar tracking mechanisms to automatically collect information about browsing activity, type of device, and similar information within our Services. We use this information to, for example, analyze and understand how you access, use, and interact with us through our Services, to identify and resolve bugs and errors in our Services, to assess, secure, protect, optimize, and improve the performance of our Services, analytics purposes, and to personalize content in our Services. We may also aggregate such information to analyze trends, administer our Services, and gather broad demographic information.
Cookies. “Cookies” are alphanumeric identifiers we transfer to your device’s hard drive through your web browser for tracking purposes. Some cookies allow us to make it easier for you to navigate our Services, while others are used to enable a faster log-in process, support the security and performance of the Services, or allow us to track activity and usage data within the Services.
Pixel Tags. Pixel tags (sometime called web beacons or clear GIFs) are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. While cookies are stored locally on your device, pixel tags are embedded invisibly within web pages and online content. We may use these, in connection with our Services to, among other things, track the activities of users, and help us manage content and compile usage statistics. We may also use these in our emails to let us know when they have been opened or forwarded, so we can track response rates and gauge the effectiveness of our communications.
Third Party Analytics. We use third party tools, such as Google Analytics, which are operated by third party companies, to evaluate usage of our Site and Services. These third-party analytics companies use cookies, pixels, and other tracking technologies to collect usage data about our Services to provide us with reports and metrics that help us evaluate usage of our Services, improve our Site, and enhance performance and user experiences. You can also download the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Do Not Track. Currently, our Site and Services do not recognize “Do-Not-Track” requests. You may, however, disable certain tracking as discussed below (e.g., by disabling cookies).
We make available several ways for you to manage choices about your personal information, including preferences regarding cookies, advertising, whether you want to receive marketing and promotional emails from us, and choices regarding your account and profile information.
- Cookie Settings. To prevent cookies from tracking your activity across our Services, you can set your browser to block certain cookies or notify you when a cookie is set; you can also delete cookies. The “Help” portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your device from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to delete cookies. If you disable cookies some features of the eSchoolware platform may not function.
- Account and Profile Information. If you have an account with us, you may access, review, and Schools and Parents may update your account and profile information, such as your name, email address, contact information, and other profile information by logging in and accessing the information directly within your account. You may also request deletion of your EdisonLearning Account. We will take steps to verify your identity and authorization prior to processing you’re request to access, correct or delete personal information. [If you request deletion, your account will be deactivated, and you will no longer be able to login to the eSchoolware platform. Generally, we will process your deletion request within 60 days of verifying your request. However, please note that certain personal information and records, including course completion data, transcripts and educational records will be retained by us, in accordance with our recordkeeping obligations under applicable law and pursuant to the requirements imposed on us by your school.
Students and parents may submit a request to access, review, correct or delete Student accounts and personal data at 844-553-2766 or information@edisonlearning.com.
The Services are designed for Students in grades K-20, which may include some Students who are under 13 years old. This section applies to the personal information that we collect through the Services, from Students who are under 13 years old (each a “Child” and collectively “Children”). This section includes disclosures required under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and its implementing regulations (collectively, “COPPA”) and supplements the other provisions of this Policy, with respect to the personal information that we collect from Children.
Notice to Parents. This section notifies Parents of:
- The types of personal information (as defined by COPPA) that we may collect from Children under 13 (“Children’s Personal Information”),
- How we use Children’s Personal Information,
- Our practices for disclosing Children’s Personal Information, and
- The rights and choices Parents have regarding Children’s Personal Information.
Some of our Services are delivered directly to and on behalf of Schools. In such circumstances, while personal information related to Students is shared with us so that Students may access our Services, the Schools will maintain control over and responsibility for Children's Personal Information (and other Student data). It is the responsibility of the Schools to supervise the Students and notify Parents (if appropriate) in these cases. Please consult your School’s privacy notice for more information.
We only collect as much information about a Child as is reasonably necessary for the Child to participate in our Services, and we do not condition a Child’s participation on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
Information We Collect Directly from Children. We may collect the following information from Children:
- Account Creation/Registration. Children cannot register for an eCourse on our eSchoolware platform. A School or a Parent must enroll the Student and create the account and will be required to provide the Child’s name, email address, date of birth, grade level, username/ID, course enrollment, and School. Where a School has engaged us to provide the Services on their behalf, we may also collect additional information from Students at the direction of the School. Children may not be able to access eCourses or the eSchoolware platform without an account that is set up and enabled by their School or a Parent and subsequently providing such Personal Information.
- Course Information. While participating in an eCourse, we may collect additional educational information provided by the Student through the Services, including school enrollment, assignments submitted, and communications and participation in eCourse activities, as well as additional information provided or submitted in the course of working with an EdisonLearning learning coach or a teacher. We may also track, log and maintain records about your participation and progress, including attendance and course usage information.
Other Usage Data and Information Collected Automatically. We and our providers automatically collect usage and activity data, including Children's Personal Information, related to a Child’s access to and use of our Services, including through the use of cookies, pixel tags, and other similar technologies. The information may include:
- Device and Browsing Information. When Children use our Services, we may collect IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, date/time stamps, operating system, language, device type, unique ID, Internet service provider, referring and exiting URLs, clickstream data, and similar device and browsing information.
- Activities and Usage. We also collect activity information related to a Child’s access to use of the Services, such as information about the buttons clicked, searches, features used, items viewed, time spent within the Services, a Child’s interactions with us within the Services, and other activity and usage information.
- Location Information. We may also collect or derive location information about Children, such as through their IP address. If a Child chooses to enable location-based sharing with us through your device settings, we may collect precise location information, such as GPS coordinates, to provide content that is more relevant to a Child’s location and to otherwise improve a Child’s interactions with our Services. A Child may turn off location data sharing through their device settings.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may combine this information with other information, including Children’s Personal Information. For more information about our automatic information collection practices, including how users may disable cookies in web browsers, please see the “Cookies and Other Tracking Mechanisms” and “Your Privacy Choices” sections of our Policy.
How We May Use Children’s Personal Information. We collect, use, disclose and otherwise process Children’s Personal Information for the following purposes:
- Services and Support. To allow a Child to maintain their account with us, provide and operate our Services, communicate with the Child about their use of the Services, provide troubleshooting and technical support, respond to a Child’s inquiries, communicate with a Child about the Services, and to otherwise run our day-to-day operations.

How We May Disclose Children’s Personal Information. We may disclose Children’s Personal Information under the following circumstances:
- Vendors and Service Providers. To the vendors and service providers we use to support the internal operations of our Sites and Services and who are bound by contractual or other obligations to use the information only for such purposes and to keep the information confidential.
- To Schools and Other Educational Institutions. Where we provide the Services to Children on behalf of a School, Children’s Personal Information and other course records may be disclosed to or shared with the Child’s School. In addition, we may disclose enrollment and usage data to the third party educational institutions and verification bodies that the Child, Parent, or School has requested or authorized to receive this data. For example, at a Child, Parent, or School’s request, for Children 5th grade and below, we will share confirmation that the Child was enrolled and any usage statistics with the educational institution of their choice. For Children 6th grade and above, we will share the Child’s transcript, including the Child’s name, the Child’s home institution and address, associated teacher of record, courses taken, time in system per course, overall GPA, GPA by year, and grades.
- To Parents. Parents have the right to request and review educational records and certain other personal information that we maintain about their respective Children who are under 13 years old.
- To Others at a Child, Parent, or School’s Request or Direction. We may also disclose Children’s Personal Information and course records to others where we have been specifically directed or authorized us to do so by a Child, Parent, or School.
- When Required by Law or Legal Process. To comply with our legal and compliance obligations and to respond to the legal process. For example, we may disclose information in response to subpoenas, court orders, and other lawful requests by regulators and law enforcement, including responding to national security or law enforcement disclosure requirements.
- For Security and Protection of Rights. Where we believe doing so is necessary to protect the Services, our rights and property, or the rights, property, and safety of others, including the safety and protection of a Child. For example, we may disclose Children’s Personal Information to (i) prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to fraud, unauthorized activities and access, illegal activities, and misuse of the Services, (ii) situations involving potential threats to the health, safety, or legal rights of any person or third party, or (iii) enforce, detect, investigate, and take action in response to violations of our Terms of Use. We may also disclose personal information related to litigation and other legal claims or proceedings in which we are involved, as well as for our internal accounting, auditing, compliance, recordkeeping, and legal functions.
- In Support of Business Transfers. If we or our affiliates are or may be acquired by, merged with, or invested in by another company, or if any of our assets are or may be transferred to another company, whether as part of a bankruptcy or insolvency proceeding or otherwise, we may disclose or transfer the Children’s Personal Information we have collected with or to the other company. We may also disclose certain Children’s Personal Information as necessary prior to the completion of such a transaction or other corporate transaction such as a financing or restructuring, to lenders, auditors, and third-party advisors, including attorneys and consultants.
We may also disclose Children’s Personal Information to third-party operators who collect and maintain Children’s Personal Information through our Services. For a list of third-party operators that collect or maintain Children’s Personal Information, please see Third Party Product Information.
Parental Changes, Controls, and Requests. At any time, Parents have the right to prohibit further collection or use of Children’s Personal Information about their Child, in association with the Services, the right to direct us to delete such Children’s Personal Information from our records, and the right to review such Children’s Personal Information. You can contact us at 844-553-2766 or information@edisonlearning.com to request to delete, review, or prohibit further collection or use of your Children’s Personal Information from their Child. Parents may also consent to the collection and use of Children’s Personal Information from their Child without consenting to the disclosure of such Children’s Personal Information to third parties, other than as necessary for the Services. For Parents of Children that participate in the Services through a School, please contact your Child’s School for guidance on how you control the information provided to EdisonLearning.
8. External Links and Features
Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or features. Any access to and use of such linked websites or features is not governed by this Policy, but instead is governed by the privacy policies of those third parties. We are not responsible for the information practices of such third parties, including their collection of your personal information. You should review the privacy policies and terms for any third parties before proceeding to those websites or using those features.
We will keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which we are processing your personal information unless the law permits or requires longer. The specific periods we keep your personal information differ depending on the nature of the Services and the terms of our customer agreements.
We have implemented safeguards to protect the personal information that we collect from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include, strong password requirements, backup and business continuity procedures, anti-virus and malware detection and prevention, and other network security measures. Please be aware that despite our efforts, no data security measures can guarantee security. There are also steps you should take to protect your Edison Learning account and data, including choosing a strong password and not reusing passwords from other sites (at a minimum, your Edison Learning account password must include 6 or more characters and at least (a) one uppercase and one lowercase letter, (b) one number, and (c) one special character (e.g., @ ! & * % ).
We also enforce role-based access to Student personal information. Specific roles such as teacher, advisor, or institution administrator may be applied to each user, which limits the access of the user only to the relevant Students and functionality for that user. Users will only have access to Student personal information on a business need-to-know basis. In addition, all EdisonLearning employees are required to complete annual security training, and EdisonLearning instructors are required to take educational training for the protection of Student personal information as directed by the Department of Education. The Policy is current as of the date set forth above. We may change, update, or modify this Policy from time to time, so please be sure to check back periodically. We will post any updates to this Policy here. If we make any changes to this Policy that materially affect our practices regarding our use of the personal information, we have previously collected from you, we will endeavor to provide you with notice, such as by posting prominent notice on our Site or within the Services.
